Le Musée Des Arts Forains

When I was creating my Paris itinerary, I wanted to be sure to check some off-the beaten path spots that often get unnoticed amidst popular tourist destinations like the Eiffel Tower.
During my search, I stumbled across 'Le Musée des arts Forains', or the Fairground Museum, and after looking at a few photos, I knew I couldn't possibly go to Paris and not visit this place. This hidden gem is located around the corner from Bercy Village in the charming 12th Arrondissement.
Formerly a wine storage facility, this museum has been transformed into a captivating 19th century fairground, filled with oddities and curiosities. From the moment you step into the courtyard, you will be entranced by the unique statues and whimsical items, setting the tone for the adventure ahead. Upon being greeted by your guide, you will be lead into the funhouse.
The second you step into the building, you'll be transported through time as you explore various amusement park rides that have been collected from the 19th and early 20th centuries. There are three thematic rooms on your tour: The Venetian Lounges, where you can enjoy an animatronic opera show. Next, you'll visit the The Fairground Art Museum, full of 19th century rides, including a pedal-powered carousel. Lastly, my personal favourite, The Theatre of Marvels, which captures the imagination with dazzling sculptures and fairground games. You may even be lucky enough to see an elephant getting whisked away by hot air balloon! At 'Le Musée des arts Forains', anything is possible!
So, step right up and prepare to be transported to a bygone era at this unique hidden gem - an unforgettable experience for any adventurous spirit!
Know before you go: Reservations for the museum are required and are 16 euros per adult, 8 euros for children ages 4-11. Tours are conducted in French but English visits are offered during the summer season. There are also several restaurants located nearby in Bercy Village to stop for lunch after your visit to the museum - We had brunch at 'The Frog' and highly recommend it!
