Glenfinnan Viaduct

There's a magical bridge in the small village of Glenfinnan that is a wonder to both humans and wizards alike.
The Glenfinnan Viaduct has gained recent fame as its popularly known as the train route to Hogwarts. However, it's been chugging a steam train along its lines dating all the way back to 1898 carrying passengers from Fort William to Mallaig. Though slightly off the beaten path while travelling through Scotland, the detour is unquestionably worth it.
Sadly, when we visited Scotland in January, the train was not running, which was a bit of a bummer but it was still an absolutely magical place to visit nonetheless. We hiked to the Viaduct viewpoint which awarded incredible views of the surrounding mountains. One advantage to travelling there in the off-season is that there were almost no other tourists there so we felt like we had the place all to ourselves. I've learned that it does get quite crowded in summer months, so be sure to consider this when you are planning your visit.
Should you find yourself visiting the Viaduct during the months when the train is running, you can even embark on a "Hogwarts" or the "Jacobite Express" train ride. Be sure to check the schedule to make sure the train is running when you visit. Whether you're a Harry Potter enthusiast or not, the Glenfinnan Viaduct is a must-visit attraction in the Scottish Highlands!
