Stykkishólmur is a small fishing village on the west coast of Iceland, situated on the north coast of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. It is a lesser known hidden gem compared to the nearby tourist attraction, Mount Kirkjufell.

With a small population of about 1000 people, Stykkishólmur's natural beauty is impressive with its sheer cliffs, fishing boats and cute colourful houses. One of the colourful yellow houses was actually featured in the Ben Stiller film, 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty', where Walter arrives at a small town in Greenland and heads to the only place in town which is a bar. In reality, the building is not actually a bar but it is a vacant building.

After strolling around the picturesque village, you can climb up the nearby cliffs to the Súgandisey lighthouse, which provides amazing views of the town and nearby islands. Once you've worked up an appetite, head to the Sjávarpakkhúsið restaurant for some delicious seafood.
