Petra's Stone Collection

Along Iceland's east coast is a hidden gem....or many, at Petra's Stone Collection. 

What began as a hobby for Petra, arranging stones she collected in her garden, has now become a captivating wonder. Over time, her collection increased and tourists started to take notice of the beautiful gemstones. It wasn't long before Petra's garden became a beloved landmark, drawing in thousands of guests per year. 

For me, I've always been interested in minerals and gemstones so I knew I had to make a stop to see Petra's collection. I absolutely loved walking through the garden and looking at all the unique and beautiful stones. Over the past few decades, Petra's collection has been one of the most frequented sights in East Iceland. Walking through the garden, you can't help but be touched by the passion and dedication she committed to her love of geology. 

Inside the house, you will be delighted by more treasures displayed in glass cases.  Many of the stones and minerals can be purchased, making for a very special keepsake from your travels. You can also grab a snack while you are there at the Cafe located within the museum.

Whether you're a geology enthusiast or someone who has no knowledge of gemstones and minerals, you will most certainly leave with a greater appreciation of all nature's marvels.
