Spreepark

Spreepark is an abandoned amusement park located in Southeastern Berlin. Closed to the public since 2002 after the owners went bankrupt, the fairgrounds have been slowly succumbed to the ravages of time. While plans are underway for the site to be revitalized in the future, at the current time you can visit the park for a nominal fee of 5 euros.
My fascination with urban exploration and discovering forgotten spaces led me to Spreepark. I first became captivated by the park after watching the action-thriller film, 'Hanna'. We took the train to the Plänterwald station and made the 25-minute walk from the station to Spreepark which took us along a beautiful river Spree. It was a beautiful walk and very picturesque.
When we got to the park we met with our Guide who informed us that our tour would not be conducted in English. While initially bummed about this, we were provided with a pamphlet to follow along with. We enjoyed touring the grounds and seeing all the colourful old rides. We went for a spin on the still functioning self-turn teacups and marvelled at the vibrant Lion's Mouth which was featured in the movie.
Please note that trespassing is prohibited on this park, with vigilant guard dogs patrolling the premise. Additionally, tours are also not always available so be sure to check the website for up-to-date tour times at https://www.spreepark.berlin/en/ for availability.
