Rathaus-Glockenspiel

The Rathaus-Glockenspiel at New Town Hall in Marienplatz is a must-see when you are visiting Munich.
Dating back to 1908, this impressive clock tower features a display of 32 figurines that dance around the tower. The glockenspiel commemorates the wedding of Duke Wilhelm V in the 16th century. During World War II, many buildings surrounding the glockenspiel were destroyed, however, the New Town Hall and Glockenspiel remained in tact, making them even more captivating to behold and a unique part of German history.
The tower performance celebrates two stories in German history and takes place twice a day at 11am and 12pm (and 5pm in the summer months), lasting approximately 15 minutes.
After marvelling at the epic glockenspiel, head a few blocks over to Hofbrauhaus, Munich's first brewery, for a nice cold beer to complete your afternoon.
