Postojnska Jama

On your trip to Slovenia, you don't want to miss the opportunity to journey into an underground paradise unlike anything you've ever seen before.
The Postojna Cave, situated near the Pivka River, was formed more than 2 million years ago but remained hidden until it was human discovery in 1818. The Postojna caves are not only a spectacle to behold, also offer a unique experience of traversing the endless cave tunnels aboard a miniature train.
Upon entering the cave, it truly felt like we were in another realm, with mighty stalactites lining the walls of the cave. The cave also contains a concert hall where if you're lucky you can catch a show. One of the coolest features of the cave outside of the unique formations are the cave 'dragons'. These dragon-looking fish called 'human fish' live exclusively underground and, if you are lucky enough, you may catch a glimpse of them. If you do get an opportunity to see the dragons, be sure to refrain from flash photography.
To know: Postojna Cave is open to visitors every day of the year and is wheelchair accessible. The cave is only accessible via guided tour which are conducted in 17 different languages.
