Mermaid of Piran

Did you know that mermaids exist on the shores of Piran, Slovenia? Well, one to be exact. 

Perched on the rocky coastline of Piran sits a small mermaid sculpture. The sculpture frames the beauty of the surrounding peninsula and is an excellent spot for a photo op.  It may elude the undiscerning eye, however, as its presence harmonizes with the surrounding scenery.  Having withstood the caress of the ocean's waves, the statue's weathered appearance adds to its overall charm and beauty.  It is here at the rocky shores that the mermaid beckons other artists to carve their creative talents into the stone. 

An evening walk on the promenade to find the mermaid statue is a perfect way to spend an evening in Piran - we delighted in the spectacle of dolphins dancing in distance waves. Be sure to check out this sculpture on a clear day or during sunset for capturing the most beautiful photos! Who knows, you may even catch a whisper of her siren song luring you to the shores at night.
