New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum, New Orleans Louisiana

For any lover of the occult or supernatural, a stop to visit the Voodoo Museum in New Orleans is a must!

The New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum was founded in 1972 by  Charles Massicot Gandolfo, otherwise known as, "Voodoo Charlie", who was a local artist with a true passion for voodoo, which has been a significant part of New Orleans History and Culture since the 1700s. Located in the very center of the French Quarter and a stone's throw from Bourbon Street, this small museum is an homage to New Orleans voodoo, which is influenced by African and European cultures.

Open daily from 10am-6pm and costing a mere $8 for entry, prepare to be enthralled by the myriad of interesting artifacts and objects - from taxidermy animals to talismans and of course, plenty of voodoo dolls. There is even a kneeling bench that is rumoured to have belonged to Marie Laveau, the Voodoo Priestess herself.

You can even take home a potion or oddity for your own collection, with the museum offering chicken feet, love potions, candles and books for sale. While the museum itself is small, you can easily spend an hour or two exploring all the nooks and crannies of the mystical space.
