The railway tunnel in Brockville, Ontario has recently undergone a captivating renovation, making it a must-visit spot when you find yourself in the area.
Not only is the Brockville railway tunnel hold the unique distinction that it's Canada's first railway tunnel, but it's also as magical as it is historic. In 2017, a restoration project breathed life into this historic landmark with a captivating and dazzling showcase of lights and music.
Our discovery of this newly revitalized tunnel occured on our way home from a trip to Ottawa. While the exterior of the tunnel appears unassuming at first glance, stepping inside you are greeted with an intricate display of lights. We spent quite a bit of time wandering the tunnel and taking unique photos.
The 90-minute-long light and music show is 90-minutes allows you the opportunity to traverse the tunnel at your own leisure while taking in the unique atmosphere.
What's even better is that the half-kilometre-long tunnel is open to the public free of charge, though donations are happily welcomed. You can visit the tunnel daily from 9am-9pm, making it an accessible and unforgettable experience.
