Bjórböðin (Beer) Spa

Have you ever dreamt of drinking a cold beer in a hot tub in the middle of the Icelandic mountains?

Well, in North Iceland at the Beer Spa you can soak and sip in a tub of beer - a bucket list item for any beer lover!  Iceland's first beer spa opened in 2017 and it is located just 30 minutes outside of the town of Akureyri. The yeast and ingredients in the beer water are known to do wonders for your skin and it's recommended not to bathe for 4 afters after a beer bath to let the ingredients soak in. While we did not have time to bathe in the beer baths, we did enjoy some beer in the outdoor hot tub while taking in the spectacular views.

The spa has a restaurant on-site and various beer spa products for purchase - I purchased some beer soap and lip balm on my way out. There is also a relaxation room on the upper level of the spa with rows of beds to lounge on. The showers are immaculately clean and I enjoyed the complimentary beer shower gel. 

If you like beer and relaxation, then this hidden gem is a must-do on your Iceland road trip.
